    Our Content Marketing Manager, Meryl Carlton, graduated from The University of Virginia in 2021 with a degree in Media Studies. From print, video, social, email, and web content – she has developed her content creation skills for the last 11 years through a variety of hands-on experiences. She joined the Pruitt Resources team in early 2022 and has since used those skills to help clients create and grow their brand.

    What is your role at Pruitt Resources?

    I knew in my first week working at Pruitt Resources that it was the perfect place for me when I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness realizing I was doing what I’m meant to do. I enjoy my role as the Content Marketing Manager, because I get to jump around and work on a multitude of projects and design mediums. There are parts of the job that stay constant on a day to day basis, giving me a sense of routine, but other aspects flow in and out, allowing me to stay engaged and feel like there’s always something fresh. My typical daily activities include planning and creating marketing content for social media, emails, website refreshes, and plugging in anywhere else I’m needed.

    What did you do prior to joining the Pruitt Resources Team?

    I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Media Studies and Government, where I was also the production manager for the Virginia Review of Politics as well as a staff reporter for WUVA news. I knew as early as high school that I wanted a job in media when I worked my way up to Editor in Chief of the yearbook, expressing myself creatively. Right out of college I ran the social media accounts for six Charlottesville local businesses while simultaneously managing two wedding venues. I knew I didn’t want to stay in Charlottesville forever, so I looked for something I could do from anywhere, and that’s when I joined Pruitt Resources!

    What do you most enjoy about your job?

    I love feeling like we are making a difference when working directly with clients. We get to celebrate their accomplishments with them as their businesses grow through marketing consulting. Seeing the differences our non-profit accounts make in other peoples’ lives make me feel like I’m part of something bigger than myself. We have an amazing team and we are always there to help each other out by bringing together our strengths, and it’s truly special when we put our work in front of the clients and they are so excited about what we’ve done!

    What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

    I love being by any body of water, especially if I have a book and some Taylor Swift music to listen to. My personality is one where I like to jump around from thing to thing, which is why I love this job so much, and which is also what I tend to do with my hobbies. I enjoy being creative through photography and painting, gardening and cooking with fresh ingredients, and pampering myself with a bubble bath and lots of skincare. I can’t pretend like I’m not a product of my generation, though, as I like to relax with shows and movies more than anything. Downton Abbey, Gilmore Girls, Harry Potter, and Little Women can always put me in a good mood.

    This quote is from my favorite book and reminds me that I don’t always have to strive for perfection, but rather, focus on my own daily happiness.
